Resumen

En este trabajo se exponen las características de la nueva candidatura “Paisajes simbólicos del occidente peninsular. El arte rupestre esquemático como unidad cultural” para su inclusión en la Lista Indicativa del Patrimonio Mundial. Se trata de una iniciativa de carácter transnacional que tiene como objetivo reconocer los valores universales del arte rupestre de las sociedades productoras vinculados a territorios en los que la acción humana ha preservado valores naturales, antropológicos y culturales que suponen un valor añadido a la candidatura propuesta.

Abstract

The features of the new candidature “Symbolic landscapes of the Western Iberian Peninsula. Schematic rock art as a cultural unity” to be included in the World Heritage tentative list are presented in this paper. This initiative has a transnational nature with the aim of promoting recognition of the universal values of rock art of the first farmers and herders societies. This rock art is linked to territories where human activities have preserved natural, anthropological and cultural values that give an added value to the proposed candidature.
